Skype Delivers Opportunity to Make Calls Over 3G

Skype launched a newer version of its client for Apple iPhone users and this version can make calls to other Skype users over a 3G network. Wi-Fi users don’t have to worry because those calls are still going to be free by default, but the 3G mode of Skype to Skype calls are going to cost you a few bucks.

If your mobile operator is more of greedy hog, then you are definitely in for some extra charges. They’re just going to squander the money outta your pockets by saying – “Dear customer, as per the terms and conditions of XYZ carrier network, this call is going to cost you an additional XXX amount”.

Skype-to-Skype calls will be available to iPhone, iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS users and if you have an iPod, you can still use Skype, but it will be in the Wi-Fi mode only. Go figure it out yourself, if you’re not aware of the unavailability factor of 3G service in your iPod.

The sound quality has been improved, you wont be hearing that cackling noise for a change and users can literally expect “CD quality sound”, during those Skype-to-Skype calls, over 3G networks. Skype development team is also working on a separate version for the Android community and most hopefully, a fully functional version will be released somewhere in the next few months.
